The UCL Centre for Gender and Global Health, based in the Institute of Global Health, is a multidisciplinary team committed to mobilising dialogue and inciting change around gender and global health.

The Centre brings together a team of academics and advocates to better understand the complex relationship between health and gender. We work with partners across the world – at local, national and global levels – to ensure that the health system takes gender into account to improve health and wellbeing for everyone.

Why gender and health?

Gender matters to our health. Gender influences our chance of reaching our full health potential, and when we get sick it influences how we will be treated within the health system. It drives career opportunities – including across the health system where 70% of frontline health workers are female but 70% of the leadership are male.
